How we act today protects how we live tomorrow
Heatilator has been revolutionizing fireplaces for generations, and we continue to focus on improving product performance, efficiency and operational sustainability. Our commitment to reducing the environmental impacts associated with our operations and designing products through thoughtful engineering, efficient manufacturing and responsible resource management, is part of our insatiable pursuit of better.
More than cozy: our fireplaces are designed for comfort and efficient heat delivery
That deep, relaxing sigh that comes from unwinding in front of a Heatilator fireplace? That’s not just the stress falling away, but also the peace of mind you have knowing your fireplace was responsibly crafted —from initial design concept to the moment you enjoy that warming glow — with thoughtful engineering, performance and efficiency in mind.
By delivering focused, efficient heat to the spaces you use most, our fireplaces help reduce unnecessary energy use. It’s a more intentional way to create comfort — using less while getting more from every moment.
Protecting the comforts of home
Because what matters most deserves the greatest care, we are guided by three key goals.
1. Make better fireplaces for the home, and the planet
Every Heatilator fireplace is thoughtfully engineered to provide beautiful warmth and reliable performance — while supporting efficient energy use in your home. Some of the ways we achieve this are:
- Intermittent pilot ignition (IPI): 98% of our gas fireplaces feature IPI. Unlike traditional “always on” standing pilots, an IPI comes on and goes off with the fireplace, thereby reducing fuel consumption associated with the pilot operation and saving money and energy.
- Heat management/zone heating: Our fireplaces and heat management solutions let you warm only the rooms you’re in most. When used as part of a zone-heating strategy, targeted heating helps reduce overall household energy use while keeping your space cozy and inviting — exactly when, and where, you need it.
2. Reduce energy intensity by 50% by 2035*
By using energy more efficiently in our operations, we help reduce emissions and resource consumption — small changes that make a meaningful difference. A few ways we are reducing energy use are:
- Purchasing certified renewable electricity certificates that match 100% of our annual electricity consumption.
- Installing LED lighting and new energy-efficient air compressors and equipment modifications.
- Implementing an air leak minimization program throughout our manufacturing facilities.
3. Achieve zero waste to landfill for all Heatilator manufacturing facilities and distribution centers by 2030*
We’re committed to using less, recycling more, and making a meaningful impact. Five of our facilities have already achieved zero waste to landfill, and two more are close behind. Among the ways we are reducing our landfill burden are:
- Utilizing reclamation methods like recycling wood pallets and crates, and repurposing refractory waste for use in road construction.
- Eliminating expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam in fireplace product packaging.
- Incorporating recycled content, renewable and low-emitting materials where appropriate and available.
